Reel Candy Sportfishing

Marvin Steiding attended his first MU class in Costa Rica of 2004. He fell so in love with billfishing and his girlfriend Candy, that he proposed to Candy while at MU and decided to pursue his billfishing passion. After attending our Costa Rica class, Marvin connected with another Marlin U graduate and they won the 2004 Spanish Leg of the BBC. He joined our next class in Australia and came back to win 2nd in the Sarasota Slam World Billfish Series on his boat the Reel Candy.

Today, Marvin is a US and Bahamian licensed charter service that offers sailfish charters from the Sailfish Capital of the World, Stuart, and Jupiter, Florida. He also operates Bahamas Fishing Charters in the Abaco's, San Salvador, and throughout the Islands of the Bahamas during Marlin season.

We can't take credit for Marvin's success, but he says "if it wasn't for Marlin U and the staff at Marlin Magazine, the Reel Candy wouldn't be as successful". For more information about Reel Candy Sportfishing, troll to www.reelcandyfishing.com.

Dorado Triple-Daily Jackpot

Marlin University Instructor Randy Baker along with MU Alumni Jesse Cox and Joe Assenza on the RedRum win the 'Dorado Triple-Daily Jackpot' at the 2011 Los Cabos Billfish Tournament this past October winning $15,147. Jesse and Joe attended the Guatemala session of Marlin University in May 2011. We congratulate 'Team Lucky' for their Daily Jackpot win at the tournament!

550 lb plus Blue Marlin

Dear Dave,

You may remember my son Jason and I attended Marlin University in Kona in 2010. Well he just came out to visit me in Maui last week and I took him out fishing on my 27 foot Whaler Outrage named Namaka. It was really the first time we had a chance to fish together since we went to the University. We set out our pattern just like we learned and got hooked up within 15 minutes! My son landed a 550 lb plus Blue Marlin (on 50 LB standup gear no less). I must say that if it wasn't for what we learned at your school we never would have got it in the boat (nor even hooked it)!
